Neuer's contract extension could have ramifications for Alexander Nubel, who has impressed on loan at Stuttgart and has long been seen as the likely successor to Bayern's shot-stopper.

He is prepared to wait for his chance in Munich, though he understands he may have to consider a permanent move if Neuer plays on beyond 2026.

"If Manuel Neuer should extend now, which I assume he will, we'll see if we can get together in 2026, Bayern Munich and I," Nubel said after Stuttgart beat Augsburg 1-0 on Sunday.

"Or we'll say it will be something else. I'm not stuck on one club. It's just mega to play here. I think the whole area lives for the clubacegame888, and that's really nice."
