However, the comments lead to quite a bit of chatter and debate across the footballing community. The French football fans came as one, and the support was also backed by Ligue 1’s social media handles. 

In a post on the organisation’s Spanish X (formerly known as Twitter) account, Ligue 1 poked fun at Ronaldo, highlighting Lionel Messi’s World Cup triumph in Qatar, with a caption that read: “Leo Messi playing in 38 degrees.”
