Cristine Reyes’ tribute post to the late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu sparked cheers and jeers from netizens after she also took the moment to wish herself a happy birthday.
On Facebook, Reyes posted an old picture of herself with Hsu when the latter visited the Philippines in 2003 at the height of the popularity of the TV show “Meteor Garden,” in which she was the leading lady of F4 members Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Ken Chu, and Vaness Wu.

The unusual combination of grief and self-celebration quickly sparked reactions online, with many finding humor in the post’s candidness.
